The Open Eye
The Second Mark was found facing the Unmade without armour. It did not banish the dark; it separated distance from depth, edge from void, and warning from ornament. Under its gaze the makers saw that most monsters were only unnamed states, while several trusted paths led nowhere. They called the Mark an eye because it revealed. The Furnace Records call it a blade because everything irrelevant fell away. Both accounts agree on the cost: once a thing has been made visible, no keeper can claim they did not know.
The Eye reveals only what the maker has learned to look for. Its sight is never complete.
The Blinding Light
Certainty stripped of context, empathy, and the right to hesitate.
