01

Intent.

People arrive with intent. They have a reason for being here and an outcome they want to reach. Getting them there efficiently matters, but so does how it feels along the way. Every step should be considered, clear and valuable, with room for delight. That last part leads to my next principle.

02

Delight.

So much of what we use now feels instant, monotonous and disposable. Quality means different things to different people, but everyone knows the feeling of unexpected delight. I believe in “less, but better.” Too often, we stop at less. Make fewer surfaces, then pour everything into the ones you do make. Delight can turn users into advocates. It can also just make someone fucking smile.

03

Immersion.

Immerse yourself in the problem, not a solution you’ve already imagined. Get into the material. Understand its constraints and see the opportunities inside them. That’s where the best ideas come from, not a week of planning or a chat with your agent. Build, explore, try different directions, then build again.

04

Immediacy.

Create an environment where you can change something the moment an idea strikes. Try it, see what happens and follow the next thought without losing momentum. Our minds are endlessly curious. Give them the right conditions and a thousand directions open up. Some call it flow state. The best ideas are buried in that exploration.

05

Transparency.

Be honest about your capabilities and the product’s. Make its state clear. Show what it’s doing, what’s changed and what comes next. Give feedback plainly, say how you feel about the work, and communicate where things stand. Transparency belongs in all of it. Trust grows when people don’t have to guess.

06

Simple.

Simple always wins.
